After 6-years developing our forever affordable housing model, we are releasing details on the communities we are working to build, and how you can become involved.
Just follow the communities link on the Association website. Share with anyone who needs affordable housing, wants to support affordable housing, wants to invest in affordable housing, wants to volunteer and help us grow. We’re looking for ambassadors to help us spread the word and encourage local city counsels to support our tiny home community developments.

Thanks for sharing your community plans with us. I received notification that the Odessa plans were declined. Am I wrong? Please advise.
Hi Laura-lee, thanks for reaching out.
All of our communities are still in the early stages. We have spoken with staff, gotten potential site details, and provided some preliminary concepts, which are what we have posted here. Once we have feedback from staff, we will engage an architect, engineer, and planner to create development plans, then submit them for approval. It’s not that you are wrong, we just haven’t gotten to the point of officially applying as yet. These developments are an involved process, especially when they include communal waste, water, and power systems, as Odessa will. This technology is not something most municipalities are unfamiliar with, as they are still relying on the septic tank system, developed in 1860 and first used in Canada around 1940. These communal system, are all approved for use in Ontario and Canada, so its just a manner of educating those involved.
While small modular homes are gaining traction in Ontario (the Federal government just provided $2.5M to expand BECC Modular in Ancaster, ON) many “traditional” homeowners are still concerned about the potential impact on the value of their homes. Once they see tiny modular homes built to the same standards as site-built, along with beautiful, affordable, and sustainable tiny home communities, growth of these communities will accelerate. We are encouraged by some municipalities proactively supporting our developments, even at this early stage. Everywhere municipalities are struggling with a lack of affordable starter housing, workforce housing, and downsize housing for seniors. One and two person households are the demographic of people that will live in our communities.
Hi Ed!
Congratulations. This is exciting. When you say these are the communities you are looking to build, what does that actually mean? I am interested in Kingston and Odessa sites and would love to know exactly where these are. I am also happy to meet or speak with you. Thanks so much.
