Hello.
I think this post gives hope to the many people who have been left behind by the American Dream.
I know of many Canadians who also would like to have a home of their own…but are probably not going to be able to do it.
Sure, we can point at such people and say, “Well, they just made bad choices. They just aren’t willing to do what it takes.”
And you know, that might be true, too.
For some, that bad choice amounted to not winning the birthright lottery…being in the wrong womb at the wrong time. That sort of thing.
Let’s face it: Some people are not willing to do what it takes. And some people try but don’t make it.
But it is also true that economic forces create inequality in being able to buy a home. Classic examples in Canada can be found in places like the GTA, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island.
Some might say, “Well, in that case, people should migrate to areas where homes are more affordable…if they really want to become a home owner. Otherwise, quit your whining.”
That’s what I like about this post/article: A practical solution for affordable home ownership.
Many thanks to Ed Peterson for his work to create a locus point for this very important housing initiative.
